Safety holds

How a job records a permit or isolation, and why only Health and Safety can release it.

Updated 31 October 2026

Some work needs a permit, or an item isolated before anyone touches it. A safety hold records that on the job.

Record a hold

  1. On the job, choose Record a safety hold.
  2. Fill in the Permit, isolation or finding reference and, if it helps, a Note (optional).
  3. Choose Save.

The job shows a banner with the reference, and safety hold in the jobs list. To fix a mistyped reference, choose Correct the hold reference.

Releasing it

Only Health and Safety releases a hold. Facilities can record one or correct its reference, never release it.

When the work is verified, the job shows Work verified; safety clearance pending. It stays under that heading on Home until Health and Safety releases the hold: verified work does not.

Safety actions

Log work that is itself a safety action with Kind set to A safety action. A job's progress goes to the desk that routed it, to Asset Management for an item or a place, and to Health and Safety for safety work.
