Set an item's hire rule
Open the item, choose Change, and under Hire:
- tick People can hire it from its label;
- choose Who may hire it: Employee and above, Site operator and above or Asset administrators only;
- in Training it needs, type to choose a training requirement, and put its name in That training, in words. Leave it empty if no training is needed;
- set Longest hire (days) for this item, or leave it empty to use the organisation's.
A category sets whether its new items are for hire and who may hire them by default.
How training is checked
When someone hires an item that needs training, Asset Management asks what Training has on record for them:
- their training is current: they can hire it at once;
- their training is not current: they cannot hire or book it;
- Training has nothing on record for them here: they can ask, and an asset administrator checks.
Approve a hire
Asset administrators are told when a hire is waiting. Open Approvals. Hires waiting for a check lists each one with the item, who asked, and when it is due back.
- Check the person holds the training the item needs.
- Choose Approve or Refuse. They are told either way.
Nobody approves their own hire. A hire whose due time has already passed cannot be approved: refuse it and ask them to hire it again.
