Project Tracker is the board's view of a portfolio of change projects. It shows where each project is up to, the decisions taken and the reasoning behind them, the questions still open with their costed options, and the risks and issues. Editors keep it up to date, and the board sees their changes once they are published.
Project Tracker does not plan or run the delivery work. That is done in Projects, a separate applet. A project here can be linked to its delivery work there: see Link a project to its delivery work in Projects.
Open it
Open Project Tracker from the applications menu in the bar at the top, or from Core home. In the sandbox, sign in with the demo login; the Demo menu in the bar lets you see Project Tracker as another role.
What you see depends on your access level
Your access level shows beside the Project Tracker title.
| Access level | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Board Member | The board views and every project's page. Read only |
| Auditor / Viewer | As Board Member, plus the full change log |
| Project Owner | The board views; add projects, and change the projects that carry your sign-in; the budgets of your own projects; the change log for your projects |
| Portfolio Editor | Change every project, publish to the board view, the portfolio details, import and export |
| Portfolio Administrator | As Portfolio Editor, plus the settings and, in the sandbox, the reset |
The menu
- Overview: the whole portfolio on one page.
- Roadmap: every project on a three-year timeline.
- Projects: every project as a card. Open one for its full page.
- Decision Log: every decision, with its reasoning.
- On the Table: the questions not yet answered, with their options.
- Risks & Issues: the portfolio's risk register and its issues.
- Change log: for auditors, every change made.
- Admin: the control page, for Project Owners, Portfolio Editors and Portfolio Administrators.
The search box beside the tabs finds projects by anything they hold. The search in the bar at the top also finds Project Tracker's projects, decisions and risks.
What you are told
The bell in the bar tells you when:
- You are made the owner of a project;
- The board view has been updated, for Board Members and Auditors;
- A delivery risk reaches a project's threshold or A linked milestone moves in the delivery work, for the project's editors.
You can switch each of these off in Core home.
