Start a job description or a new version

Create a job description from a template, start a new version of a published one, and name who works on it.

Updated 31 October 2026

Hiring managers and administrators can start job descriptions.

A new job description

  1. Choose New job description at the end of the menu.
  2. Fill in the Job title. Choose the Department and Role family now or later.
  3. Under Template, choose Blank or a template. A template brings in its starting text, responsibilities, skill sets, skills, qualifications and sections. You can change all of it in the draft.
  4. Choose Create the draft. The draft opens at its first step: see Write a draft, step by step.

A new version of a published one

Open the job description and choose Start a new version under Actions. The new version starts as a copy of the published one. Everyone keeps reading the published version until the new one is published.

Start a new version only shows when no version is in progress: only one version is open at a time.

Name contributors

Contributors can see and edit the job description's drafts. The person who created the job description, the person who started its open version, and HR administrators can change them.

  1. On the job description, under Contributors, choose Change contributors.
  2. Type part of a name or sign-in and choose the person. Add a person adds another row; ✕ removes one.
  3. Choose Save.
