Open Till. Nothing is recorded until you take the payment, so you can build a sale and discard it without leaving a trace.
1. The customer (optional)
In Customer, type the customer's ID, a first name or a last name, and pick them from the list. Their details fill in. (Your organisation may call the ID something else, such as a member number.)
For someone new, type their First name, Last name and, if they want an emailed receipt, their Email. They are saved when the sale is taken. Nothing about the customer is required, and a blank box never wipes a detail already held.
2. The items
- Choose items from the Catalogue tiles. Search by name or SKU, or narrow the list with the coloured category chips.
- Use − and + to change a quantity, Remove to take a line out, and Discount for a line discount. See Discounts and custom amounts.
- Discard empties the sale. Nothing is recorded.
The catalogue shows only what your selling group may sell.
3. Comments, account and invoice numbers
Comments are optional on most items. Some items need more before you can take payment:
- an item marked Comment required needs a comment;
- an item marked Invoiced needs an Account number and an Invoice number.
The till says what is missing under the sale, and the payment button stays off until it is there. Comments, account and invoice numbers are printed on the receipt.
4. Payment
Choose Cash, Card or Split.
- Cash: type the Cash tendered, or use the quick buttons for the exact amount, £5, £10, £20 or £50. The till shows the change to give from the float. At an exact-tender station the customer pays the exact amount and no change is given.
- Card: take the payment on your card terminal, then type the Card terminal reference (optional). Only the reference is stored, never a card number.
- Split: type the Cash part. The rest is the card part.
Choose the payment button, for example Take cash payment: 12.50. The receipt opens with its number, and a message tells you any change to give.
Cash goes into the lock box, and the till records it on the box's ledger. Card payments never touch the box.
