Run a review

Open a review for someone you manage, write and share it, and rate a major review on the 9-box grid.

Updated 31 October 2026

Open a review

  1. Open the person from People.
  2. Under Reviews, choose Open a review.
  3. Fill in:
    • Title, such as Annual review 2026.
    • About: the whole employment, or one role. A manager of one role reviews that role.
    • Period from and Period to.
    • Reviewer: leave it empty to review them yourself.
    • Kind: a Regular review, or a Major review: rated on the 9-box grid.
  4. Choose Open.

You can open reviews for the roles you manage. HR can open one for anyone.

Take it through its steps

  1. Choose Send to the employee. They write their self-reflection and submit it to you. The bell tells you.
  2. Under The review, write yours and choose Save. You can come back to it.
  3. Choose Share with the employee. An empty review cannot be shared.
  4. They read it and choose Acknowledge.
  5. Choose Close.

The Steps panel shows where it stands. The reviewer's steps are taken by the reviewer or HR.

Rate a major review

In a major review, Performance and potential shows the 9-box grid: performance across, potential up. Choose a box, add a Note if you like, and choose Save the rating. The person sees it once the review is shared.

Set goals in the review

Under Goals, choose Set a goal. See Set goals and follow them.

Reopening

Only HR can reopen a closed review, with a reason. It goes back to the reviewer, and the employee acknowledges it again. The reopening is recorded in the audit trail.
