Every department uses the default layout unless it has its own.
Make one
- On Layouts, choose A layout for a department.
- Choose the Department, and the layout it is Based on.
- Choose Create and open.
The department's layout starts as a copy of the one it is based on and keeps only what you change. When that one changes, such as a new address or logo, the department's follows, except where it has its own.
In the builder
- A value you change is marked Changed here, with a button to use the other layout's value again. Items show added here or changed here.
- Removing an item that comes from the other layout hides it instead: the button reads Hide on this layout. It is then listed under the hidden items, with Show again.
In the sandbox, the People and Culture layout is based on House style, so its buttons read Use House style's and its hidden items are listed under Hidden from House style.
A department's layout cannot be the default, or be the base of another layout.
Choose which layout a department uses
- In the builder's Who uses it tab, tick the departments and save. A department uses one layout, so ticking it moves it from the one it uses now.
- Or, in Library, Departments, choose Edit and pick its Layout for its job descriptions' PDFs.
